naplan seems to be more about schools and little to do with students. The amount of undue stress placed on my daughter at only 8 is concerning. I already feel comfortable that I know academically where she sits in relation to other 8 yr olds, a national standardised test will not tell me anything new. So why do I have a very anxious girl who would prefer to not attend school this week who normally loves school? naplan- what will it do for her? our family? nothing probably. Should children as young as grade3 be put under such pressures? What are we teaching them, but that tests are scary, stress inducing etc. I know I will be relieved when naplan is over and grade3 can return to focusing on learning not studying for naplan.

A lot of husbands I think are eternally grateful that they have a wife to shield them from the scary task of the day to day management of their childrens education. I know I am grateful to my wife for letting me know what I need to be doing from day to day otherwise I might just go fishing and forget that the rest of the world exists. All hail to The Wife Network.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Ruth. He is very wise, but in a very down to earth 'real' way. You'll enjoy his articles on decluttering!

I always feel terrific after culling my clothes stash, its nice to have room in the drawers again and there's always a feeling of 'moving on' which I like. It can be hard to do though, so thanks Ruth for your great advice!

The 'wife network''! I thiink that's the first time I've ever thought of myself as a 'wife' in the school context, it's always been as a 'mum'. Thanks for giving a different perspective on things Bruce, it's refreshing.

Hi Peter,

No, the dad's are definitely not going to be forgotten this year. We are already planning a Father's Day stall. More to be revealed closer to the date.
